FutureStitch, the global leader in sock manufacturing, officially opened their first-ever US manufacturing facility in Oceanside, California in July of this year.

FutureStitch, which is headquartered in San Clemente, is the cutting-edge knit producer partnering with some of the biggest names in fashion including Stance, TOMS, Crocs, Everlane, and more to create specialized, durable sock designs. They are the go-to manufacturing partner in the space, with industry-leading expertise and an unwavering commitment to using their business to drive positive change. Prior to launching FutureStitch, co-founder and CEO Taylor Shupe was a co-founder of Stance and he has also served as Vice Chairman for Yeezy.

FutureStitch is on track to reach revenues in excess of $50 million in 2022, and the brand is using these funds to fuel further growth and the development of additional specialized manufacturing facilities. To-date their manufacturing work has mainly occurred at their purpose-built, LEED Platinum certified facility near Shanghai, China.

FutureStitch has now expanded their manufacturing into the United States for the first time, opening a new factory in Oceanside and working closely with local partners to recruit and employ formerly incarcerated women. The unemployment rate for formerly incarcerated people is significantly higher than the national average, about 35%, and necessary support services can be very difficult to access. By working with local organizations, FutureStitch will be able to help their team members access programs including therapy and housing support in addition to providing employment.

FutureStitch is challenging the notion that manufacturing jobs are a thing of the past, bringing in new communities with fresh energy and ideas, and providing stable, rewarding career opportunities for their employees. The brand ultimately believes that this increased focus on ethical employment practices will drive greater retention and be a strong competitive advantage for the business.

The Oceanside factory will employ around 60 people who will work across the new in-house R+D center and the knitting and printing work. FutureStitch will also continue to manufacture at their Shanghai location, in addition to the company’s joint venture in Turkey which services parts of Europe.

Founded in 2017, FutureStitch, Inc. is a leading global textile and technology company founded by Taylor Shupe. FutureStitch’s main purpose is to create premium knitted products through a business model that promotes social and environmental consciousness. In a continued mission to revolutionize the archaic knitwear manufacturing industry, in 2018, FutureStitch opened an industry-leading facility with unmatched design services and rapid time-to-market capabilities. In 2020, the FutureStitch factory located outside Shanghai, China received the highest LEED Platinum Certification for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility at every level of operation. In 2022, FutureStitch opened a full-service printing & customization facility in Oceanside, CA that will focus on small batch & quick-strike opportunities. With offices in San Clemente, California, and Haining, China, FutureStitch has a strong brand portfolio that includes Stance China LTD, InStitches Inc., and Boosocki LLC; and is the contract manufacturer of socks for Stance, Crocs, TOMS, Reigning Champ and several others.
